This year I took my first two semesters of Chinese with Tseng Laoshi. Coming into the class I had no idea what to expect. I enrolled in Chinese solely because I wanted to try something new after taking Spanish throughout high school. Although learning Chinese is not an easy process, the structure of the class that Tseng Laoshi uses makes learning as easy and efficiently as possible. An established weekly schedule with homework due Wednesday, oral performance on Thursday, and quizzes on Friday help make learning even easier. Group work is also an important part of the class that I found both fun and useful. Weekly time in the language laboratory and pronunciation tutorials also supplement the class well. And of course Tseng Laoshi is very understanding of unexpected issues that arise during the week and she does her best to keep the class manageable. I am most amazed with the amount that I have learned over these two semesters, especially vocabulary and listening comprehension. Any doubts I had about this course coming in have been erased and I look forward to continuing to study Chinese in the future.
