I'm not sure exactly if I really knew what I was getting myself into when I started to learn Chinese. It started out as a mission to get closer to my cultural roots; I figured that since I was Chinese I should know Chinese, but the language proved to be more work than I thought. Overall though, I think that learning this language had been a good experience. The class taught me how to read, write, and comprehend Chinese. I also got to learn all about the culture, and plus I've had a lot of fun. I had an amazing teacher that made learning the language an incredible experience. The people in the class were also great students. I made many friends and acquaintances and learned a lot from them. Together we made the learning very active, asking lots of questions and thus gaining a lot of knowledge. I think that I'll take a lot of what I learned in this class with me in the future, not only in my continued studies of Chinese, but also just different cultural views in general. I'm really glad that I took the class, and would recommend it to anyone else who is interested. |
