Chinese is as rewarding as it is difficult to learn. New words and characters are always a challenge to learn. Tones are a challenge to hear and reproduce. And it always seems like I am forgetting more than I am learning. But it still feels worthwhile when I can read subtitles from a friend's Chinese soap opera, or understand everyday discussions about how film is cheaper to develop at Price Club. Another small piece window into the world has opened up and I have something new to explore. It has also been a nice change of pace from mathematics and computer science, but that is another story entirely.
