Phil Brown Self-Intro in NJ Star |
When I started learning Chinese, I didn't really know what I was in for. I didn't specifically need to take Chinese for any reason, just any language would have been ok, but I was attracted to Chinese because my family has a long history of working in Asia, and because of the challenge I suspected would be involved. It has definitely been a challenge, but it has also been more fun than other languages that I have studied. There is a certain sense of pride when you write a sentence of characters perfectly that would make no sense at all to any of your friends. There's a lot of work, but if you do it all, there's a good chance that you'll be rewarded with a good grade. |
