When I took the Elementary Chinese class at first, I felt this course was not easy at all. I remember that I was listening to the workbook audiotape for more than two hours, trying to distinguish difference among five different tone marks. I also repeated the vocabularies so many times by myself. The tone marks and pronunciation were difficult for me at that time. However, as I learned more and more about Chinese, I enjoyed this course and came to like this course. The tone marks and pronunciation were getting easier, and I could comprehend them. In addition to the language, we learned about Chinese culture. We talked about how Chinese culture is different from American culture and discovered their uniqueness. As a foreign student, it was interesting for me to see difference and similarities between Chinese and my native language, Korean. Lastly, my instructor helped us to have a successful experience in learning Chinese. Her well-organized classes guided us to evenly learn speaking, listening, and writing. I had a great experience in the Elementary Chinese class with my instructor and classmates.
