Character Learning World
Welcome to the University of Virginia Character Learning website!
This website Consists of two learning programs: Chinese Character Learning Program and Japanese Kanji Learning Program. The purpose of this website is to provide a rich character-learning environment where students can practice and use newly introduced characters in various ways through interacting with the computer. This website is designed for students who are currently enrolled in first- and second-year Chinese and Japanese language classes at the University of Virginia. This website is designed to function with Microsoft Internet Explorer.
This project is funded by a Teaching Initiative Grant and by the East Asian Center of this University. The project staff members are Helen Shen and Tomoko Marshall, faculty members of the Department of Asian and Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures; Richard Israel, Technician of the ITC; and Molly Chen, Yukiko Hayashi, Christopher Husser, Axiang Liu and Denial Their UVa students.

. Animated stroke order, and radicals for characters
. Audio-supported interactive vocabulary quizzes
. Audio-supported interactive exercises at the phrase, sentence, and paragraph levels
