INTRODUCTION

Learning Chinese has been one of the most interesting experiences I have 
had at UVa. Though I have studied several foreign languages, I have enjoyed 
Chinese the most because it is so different from any other language I have 
studied. I feel that I have gotten a lot out of this class in many different 
ways. Since I am a Foreign Affairs major, I feel the insight into Chinese culture 
that this class has given me will be invaluable.
