INTRODUCTION

My experience in Tseng laoshi’s Chinese 101 class has been both fun and
challenging. I have always enjoyed taking foreign languages, and Chinese
is the first opportunity I have had in a few years to learn a foreign
language. It was the first non-western foreign language I have ever taken.
I feel that learning Chinese has given me a glimpse of their culture since
languages can tell us certain subtleties about how people live and think.

My Most Excellent Work

1.	Lesson 6- Making Appointments
2.	Lesson 7- Studying Chinese
3.	Lesson 5- Visiting Friends

I chose all three of these passages because I liked their content the most.
Both in my own work and in the work my partner and I have done together, we
have tried to make the passages interesting and humorous. After all, the
point of language is to convey meaning, so I wanted to write passages that
were interesting to me. In Lesson 5, I made the least amount of mistakes
while writing it, but it had very difficult tone patterns for me to pronounce.
Both Lesson 6 and Lesson 7 involved phone conversations between my partner
and I that took some interesting twists. It was difficult to convey some
concepts at our vocabulary level, but we decided to give them our best effort,
despite the challenges involved. It was definitely worth it.
