INTRODUCTION I enjoyed coming to this class more than any other class I took. Since I am a science major, all the classes I have taken so far were of large sizes of at least 100 people. In these classes, there is no interaction between students and teachers or between students and classmates. There is almost no chance of building a relationship. Rather, they compete with one another because the grade given in these classes depend on each individual’s rank in the class. However, Chinese class was different. Teachers and classmates know each other very well. We built friendships with one another, and also worked together a great deal. I regret not having been able to put as much effort into the class as I wanted to, because I was busy studying for my major classes and competing with other classmates. Next semester, as much as I like this class, I would like to put in more effort and make Tseng laoshi and myself proud. My Most Excellent Work 1. Lesson 4- Hobbies 2. Lesson 5- Visiting Friends 3. Lesson 8- School Life I have chosen these passages because I feel that these three lessons contain some of the Chinese that is most useful. With the things I learned in Lesson 4, I can readily approach my Chinese friends and easily show off what I have learned by talking about things that I like to do and asking them what they like to do. For your reference, I am Korean and have a lot of Chinese friends. For my passage for Lesson 5, I tried to use as many vocabulary words as I could to learn and remember most of the words I learned for this lesson. Although this passage is neither too interesting nor too creative, I believe that the things I have said in this passage are some of the most standard things that can be mentioned about one’s meeting with a friend. Lastly, I chose Lesson 8 because I learned how to talk about every single thing that I do each day and this will surely enable me to impress my Chinese friends. The narrative I wrote for this lesson is a little corny, but I value this narrative in that I tried to be a little creative, and also tried to make use of some grammar and vocabulary words from past lessons.
