INTRODUCTION

I have always wanted to take Chinese. My mom always tried to teach me,
but it just did not work because I was not motivated. Therefore, I was
ecstatic that I was able to take Chinese at Uva in a classroom setting
with Tseng laoshi. I can honestly say that this class requires a lot of
time an effort, but it is all worth it. It is one of the most challenging
and rewarding experiences I have had so far. Tseng laoshi is a great
teacher who brings alive the language. It is really great to go home and
have my mom tell me that I write characters prettier than my dad!

My Most Excellent Work

1.	Lesson 4- Hobbies
2.	Lesson 7- Studying Chinese
3.	Lesson 8- School Life

Dialogues have always been a good way to practice writing characters
and speaking the language. I chose the Lesson 4 passage because it was
one of the funniest ones my partner and I ever did. Aya was an awesome
partner. She would write out the characters and I would write out the
pinyin and we helped each other out. Lesson 7 was a dialogue that resembled
the help that Aya and I give each other. I also picked Lesson 8 because it
was my first journal in Chinese.
