Quan Trinh

INTRODUCTION

I have really enjoyed Chinese this semester. I speak Cantonese at home
and have always been uncomfortable with Mandarin. I feel that this
course has helped me a great deal with adjusting to the different sounds
of Mandarin. I also think the format of the class makes it easy for me
to pick up new characters with each new lesson. The small size of the
class makes Chinese one of my favorite classes because we are all very
close. Tseng laoshi is a good teacher because she combines a strict
curriculum with interesting class interaction.

My Most Excellent Work

1.	Hobbies
2.	Family
3.	Visiting Friends

I picked these four passages because they offer a good insight into my
progress in Chinese. The first narrative was one of my earlier works.
The following two dialogues show a much better understanding of Chinese
because my group and I were able to incorporate some humor into the
story line. The self-introduction is the first non-fictional piece that
I have written for Chinese. It uses a lot of the new word a grammar
structures that I have learned this semester. Together these four pieces
represent the knowledge of Chinese that I have acquired in this class.
