INTRODUCTION

Chinese 101 has been a surprisingly good experience. Learning characters
did not turn out to be as difficult as I had previously believed. The
rate at which we covered material is fast, but because of Tseng laoshi’s
teaching skills, I know far more Chinese than I ever thought I would in
one semester. The environment in class is very focused, but relaxed as
well. I would encourage anyone with room in their schedule to take this
class.

My Most Excellent Work

1.	Lesson 4- Hobbies
2.	Lesson 8- School Life
3.	Lesson 2- Family

I am not sure that any of these passages can be ranked as excellent, as
it is difficult to produce a truly interesting dialogue or narrative with
a vocabulary limited to the nine lessons we had learned. I thought that
Lesson 4 made a good use of new vocabulary. I was pleased with Lesson 8
because by that time I had gained the vocabulary necessary to describe a
real-life situation. I chose Lesson 8 because it was almost realistic. Lesson
2 also seemed less forced than most of the dialogues I have done.
