INTRODUCTION

I feel that Chinese 101 is a great class. Tseng laoshi teaches the class
extremely well and continues to pursue my interest in learning Chinese.
When I entered the class, my mother warned me that Chinese was not an
easy language to learn, and during the semester I learned that she was
right. I was overwhelmed at the amount of work in the beginning of the
semester. The drills and memorization of correct pronunciation, writing
characters and reading pinyin are all very difficult. I think the most
difficult task was memorizing the characters and the meaning of each
character. Though these tasks are difficult, Tseng laoshi helps to ensure
that we learn the language properly and correctly. I am excited to continue
on to Chinese 102 and I recommend Chinese 101 for those interested in
learning Chinese.

My Most Excellent Work

1.	Lesson 5- Visiting Friends
2.	Lesson 8- School Life
3.	Lesson 3- Dates and Time

It was hard choosing which passages to use, but I narrowed them down to the
ones that had the fewest markings made by Tseng laoshi. The first two passages
chosen were both narratives. I was able to use le in them to show a setting in
past tense, and I used a variety of vocabulary from different chapters of the
book. I feel that my narratives are better written than the dialogues I wrote
throughout the semester, which is why I chose two narratives to read for this
recording. I also feel that I put the most effort into writing the narratives
because they took more creativity to write than the dialogues.
