INTRODUCTION

As a non-native learner, studying Chinese has proven to be a considerable challenge.
The demands of the class have, at time, been somewhat overwhelming. However, the daily
rigors of the course have proven to be necessary and extremely beneficial. This applies
to more than just learning the language. I have made definite gains in memorization,
and developed a process by which I can study and learn while minimizing time consumption.
Overall, I have had a positive and enlightening experience in studying Chinese. The
benefits of studying the language have transcended the class itself and made me a more
complete student.

My Most Excellent Work: 1) Seeing a Doctor 2) Sports 3) Hometown

I selected these pieces because they incorporate my interests. I have a deep love for
all sports, and I enjoy the uniqueness of my hometown, Charlottesville. I selected Seeing
a Doctor because it was probably my best oral work of the semester.
